This week, we made it easier to find the right project, recover when Ask runs into trouble, and edit projects without losing your work.
🔎 Smarter project discovery
Instant Match now understands intent
Describe what you want to learn or build in your own words. Instant Match now searches by meaning rather than relying on an almost exact wording match, so more requests can reuse an existing project instead of starting a new generation.
Project ideas and open-ended questions take different paths
Instant Match used to trigger and route you to a project instantly even if you sent an open-ended question like “Where should I start?”. These questions should now open a conversation, giving you space to work out what you want before choosing.
Liking projects is now more dependable
Liking several projects in different tabs no longer causes some saves to overwrite others.
💬 More reliable Ask chat
Recoverable errors no longer end the conversation
Ask can now recover from temporary model throttling and tool-limit failures instead of stopping a turn that could be retried.
Failures give you a useful next step
If Ask cannot recover, it now explains what happened and tells you how to continue instead of leaving the conversation stuck.
Long chats can be reset properly
We fixed a backend issue that could permanently prevent tool-heavy conversations from resetting.
✍️ Smoother project editing
Move between Ask and Edit in both directions
The project chat toggle now works both ways (it used to only work in one direction, from Ask to Edit).
More support in the Edit toolbar
Edit chat now also includes attachments, voice input and a route to human help - the same set of tools available in Ask
Edit chat maintains context for longer
We fixed cases where Edit and Generate could lose earlier context and ask for information or approved changes that were already in the conversation.
Your first edit is saved
Previously, if you edited a project and clicked Update straight away, your first changes might not be saved - even though the project said it had updated. We’ve fixed this so your changes save properly the first time.
Autosave behaves properly after failures and agent edits
If a project fails to save, you’ll now see one clear error instead of the same notification appearing every few seconds.
Clearer error messages
If something in your project needs fixing before it can be updated, we’ll now show you exactly where the problem is and how to resolve it - instead of simply asking you to try again.
🐛 Smaller bug fixes
Reset projects no longer remain in All In Progress.
Going back from a Trending project now returns to the previous view without flashing the home page footer.
Once an attachment is sent in the Edit chat, it moves into the conversation immediately instead of appearing to upload until the entire reply finishes.
Author names are now also consistent between Explore results and the project page.
